Christmas Tree Gift

So last year, after Christmas I picked up a case of these glass Christmas trees on super duper clearance ( I think I paid $.30 each )  I knew I wanted to give them as Christmas gift this year for friends, family, neighbors and teachers this year. 

I went to good old Pinterest for a recipe for "elf food" as we called it. Ive seen it called Reindeer food, White Trash Christmas mix, Muddy Buddies, Reindeer chow, and other creative names. You can pretty much switch it up for any holiday. 

The recipe is super easy!

What you'll need . . . 

• 2-1/2 cups corn chex
• 1/2 cup smooth peanut butter
• 1/4 cup chocolate chips
• 1 tablespoon butter 
• bag of powdered sugar

Method . . .

1. In a microwave safe bowl, combine the peanut butter, chocolate, and butter. Heat on high for 1 to 2 minutes. Stir until smooth.
2. In a large bowl, toss in your chex. Then add the peanut butter mixture. Stir with a spatula until well-coated.
3. Then in a large Ziploc bag or brown paper bag, toss in the powered sugar and chex. Shake, shake, shake until everything is -- again -- well-coated

Since our Christmas cards has a "elf" theme this year the "elf food" went nicely… Heres a few shots from our 2013 Christmas card.

Heads on Display

I know its been a while since I've posted a project, soooooooo, heres the latest… We have a huge bin of dress up clothes and it seems to always be overflowing! One of the main problems was the helmets and masks taking up a large amount of space. 

We went back and forth on the best way to display and hang. First, we bought a few different sized garage hooks but they didn't quite work and make them secure. Hubby came up with the idea of using a wood piece and pvc pipes in the best shape to hold the helmet or mask in place. 

We used various shapes depending on what worked the best for the piece. We then painted it black. 

We also added some artwork to the corner and used multi colored frames and a mix of artwork, pictures and special pieces.

Well, she has been generous enough to make a Bear for little brother, Nug,  made out of his special baby clothes!!! 

The Hardest part for me is always to pick out the best outfits. I try to pick outfits that are special, stick out in my mind, or ones we have taken great pictures in. 

The best amount is 9-10 onsies or Tees. 

I picked these outfits because of special occasions like his first Easter, and first day in his new glasses. Some of the outfits had special items on them, like the giraffe onsie which has now become his signature animal, and his Sweet Pea sleeper given to him from his Great Grandmother.
When he was in my belly we called him Sweet Pea and even had a "Pea in the pod" themed baby shower, so the green dotted onsie with the pea pod reminds me of being pregnant with him.
The tennis onsie is for Daddy, since that used to be his hobby.
 I can remember his chubby little legs trying so hard to crawl across the living room floor wearing the Whale onsie. Such a great way to display all those special outfits!

Nus bear turned out fantastic 

Seeing this bear makes me so emotional. I can picture our sweet little boy wearing every single outfit. Having a Memory Bear is such a great way to save your little ones clothes in such a special way. They are only small for such a small amount of time and having a functional, loving, way to display these memories is wonderful!!!

Family Halloween Costumes

So since my youngest was born we have done the family costume route each Halloween. 

The first year he was born I had this vision of a Wizard of Oz family. Him as the Cowardly Lion complete with badge of courage, myself as Dorothy and my husband as the Scarecrow. Well his first illness hit and we stayed home and handed out candy and didn't even get to wear our costumes. Plus it was raining and yucky out. But we did get some cute shots at JC Pennys. 

2009

At least someone got to wear the Dorothy wig that year.

The Next year we continued with the family thing. Camden wanted to be Buzz Lightyear and instead of going the Woody and Jessie Route we did Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head. This was great because I was also preggio with Brody and the "head" gave lots of wiggle room.

2010

For Brodys first Halloween we knew we needed something all of us could wear. Cam was really liking The Incredibles and with his energy we knew Dash would be a great choice. Plus there is  baby Jack Jack in the family.

2011

Last year Cam choose Pirates, which was great because I had already purchased him a pirate costume as a dress up outfit and Daddy had been a pirate before when I was a mermaid and my Chihuahua a parrot back in the pre kids day.

2012
