Music can be like clothes, sometimes the styles you think are cool 15 years ago you look back and notice, "wait a minute, sports themed tee shirts and jean shorts past my knees might not have been the best look for a teenage girl".  Or "You mean to tell me Hootie and the Blowfish were not really that cool". I was the chick in middle school with both long jean shorts AND a Hootie and the Blowfish shirt. Then around 8th grade heading into high school I heard of a band called Dave Matthews Band. So you know I signed myself up for BMG (without asking moms permission), got my free 6 CDs or whatever it was with a promise to buy 1 at full price, and jammed out to my walkman CD player in my room. I think my other purchases included In-Vouge, because What a man, was my jam, Jock Jams and Jewel. What can I say I was a diverse pre-teen. Back to the matter at hand, here we are 15-20 years later and if anyone was to ask me "whats your favorite band" hands down I would answer Dave Matthews Band (and not just because it has Band in the title). 

My hubby and I try to attend their concert every year. It is our special thing we have done for over 10 years now. We did skip a few for pregnancies and a few years ago when they didn't tour (boo). We also don't go to the nearest show, we like to spend the weekend for us and just go. No kids, No work just some "You and me together" time. Its very hard to pick a favorite song but there is one on the new CD, Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King, called "You and Me" that I have totally fallen head over heels for.

I even made a home video to this from a beach trip last year so now whenever the song comes on I think of my sweet hubby running thru the sand with our then chubby 1 year old, and curly top 4 year old. It almost brings tears to my eyes the absolute perfect, frozen in time memories. 

When I found the shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/ModGenesDesigns. I saw her beautiful work and without it being advertised as so I knew she was a fellow DMB diehard. 

I knew the playroom would be the perfect home for our new print. She printed on art quality canvas so I know this will last! 

The print is in 11x14 and among the mass chaos it brings a smile to momma.

Tees To Please, review & giveaway

When I started writing this blog my goal was to find neat, unique products and companies to share with my friends. Here we are 9 months later, the blog has been viewed over 14,800 times, we have had over 50 vendors participate, and have 647 facebook friends. I never would have expected to find such nice moms and a network of like minded, like focus, hip mommas, with the goal of raising awesome humans. Im able to share stories, projects, giveaways, ideas and products with people all over the country, and this is something I am really enjoying. I told Lindsay a few facts about our little guys and trusted her to work her magic and that she did!!!

My oldest is really into bugs lately so the Tee she sent him was perfect! I didn't even get a chance to wash it before he wore it. The next day we ate breakfast at a local restaurant that has a petting area and we had a birthday party to attend, he insisted that he wore his shirt all day. Nu made sure he told everyone what was on his shirt, he was very proud of his new shirt :)

Bluewater Road Kids Toilet Target

Our friends at Bluewater Road Kids provided our Nug's 2nd birthday shirt and we have been crafty buddies since. (You can check out the shirt she made for us HERE)

She has added a new product to her etsy.com shop, TOILET TARGETS!!

This item is genius! Being a mom of 2 boys, one who is potty trained, and one who is in progress, I welcome any product to assist in "aim" and keeping pee off my floor. When she offered to have us try them out I was super excited and totally intrigued.

We received the shark style. Not only is it cute
but it matches our bathroom perfect.

I actually applied the shark to our big potty yesterday. Nu was super excited to see it and even more excited when I told him he could pee on it. Caroline at Bluewater Road Kids provides instructions for placement and it was very simple. When Nug saw it he immediately when to his little potty to check for one and was sad when he didn't have a "sharkie".  Caroline was nice enough to send us 2 which I was going to place on both our big potties but I figured since big bro had one maybe little bro should too.

Lets face it, little boys can use all the help they can get! The toilet target is great
because it gives them something to aim for, literally :)

While I mentioned the fact the toilet target is meant to help "aim" I also wanted to share a funny story. Nu loves his sharkie so much he got very concerned about #2 time. I had to reassure him its ok to poo on the shark, a sentence I would have never guessed would come out of my mouth.

Firetruck Party

Our youngest (Nug) turned 2 this april, and we decided on a "wheewww wheewww" party. Aka Firetruck fun! We rented a local building, (air conditioning in april in florida, yes please) had the local heroes at the fire department stop by, got some pizza, HOT dogs, yummy snacks, a "photo booth", piñata fun and partied down till nap time :) One of the major highlight for the kids was when the fire fighters allowed the kids to shoot the fire hoses..  Now for the HOT details..

We started with invites from our friends at Paper Built Shop

These invites were perfect to set the feel, We used a exato
knife to cut the windows which, when lifted shared the party details.

I love the fact it included his age and can be used again, non party. 

Paper Built Shop provided us with the signs, table tents for food, photo booth props and signs and invites and thank yous.

I thought the photo booth was a big hit and a great activity for everyone to participate. Good for parties of little ones who might still be too small to play party games, plus great memories of friends and families at the party.

A stack of hats were provided from a local sub shop but we wanted to make them more personal. Paper Built Shop  provided templates for new labels :)

Our goody bags were stuffed full of fire themed goodies. We went to our local fire dept and set up them to come to our party, they also provided multiple brochures, coloring books, crayons and stickers. We bought fire hydrant squirt guns from Oriental trading company and our friends at giggle junction provided I-spy bags. The actual  favor bags are from Ready Set Create, who also made our table toppers. 

Ready Set Create provided favor bags, multiple colors and labels were included.

My mom is a super party cookie maker and I
call on her skill for most b-day parties. She went
above and beyond this year!

The cookies paired with these cute firetruck envelopes from Lark Paper Design
were both yummy and cute :)

So im kinda a dork and want the entire family to be in the party theme, I was lucky enough to have a
co-worker donate her hubbys uniform, the only problem was it was a XL long sleeve, call into action the
beloved PINTEREST!!

We had a few of Lark Paper Design envelopes left over and wanted to do something nice for the firefighters that took time out of their day to come to the party. We gave them a thank you card and made some chocolate chip, peanut butter cookies and took to the station as a "thanks"
